New Bird Species

I had a new bird species at the cabin on Saturday morning. It was a northern waterthrush that perched momentarily on the deck railing, giving its "chink" call. A waterthrush looks like a brown, not cinnamon, wood thrush with an eye stripe. These birds like bogs and water and lots of cover. The fact that the area behind the cabin is dense enough to attract a waterthrush made me wonder if I need to weed whack out there or something. It was only a momentary thought. But I guess it is more jungly than I though--I don't go out that way in summer. I have a nice winter trail out the back of the cabin, and I did notice that the area seemed pretty dense out there this spring, but I never thought it was dense enough for waterthrush.
