Mt. Airy Rd., Monaghan Township, York County, Pennsylvania |
The cabin got at least 5” of snow and I wouldn’t disagree if someone told me it was really 6 or 7 inches. This light, fluffy snow is blowing all over the place, uncovering the ground in one spot and then depositing it elsewhere to make another spot twice as deep.
Once off the mountain, the inches of snow that fell dropped quickly, down to just 3-4 inches within a mile or so. Still, the roads are drifting shut almost as fast as the road crews pass. Mt. Airy Rd. was down to one lane of travel within an hour of the plow’s passing.
This is snowglobe snow. You couldn’t build a snowman if your life depended on it. The snow is as light as paper. I could broom it off my decks this morning. Actually, I could probably huff and puff and blow it off the decks, it was that lightweight. It would be a great snow to play in, if only that bitter wind would relax. Maybe tomorrow.

Great to see the snow- we have floods and rain here.
Carolyn: We got 6-1/2 inches further east but our snow, like yours, was pretty light and fluffy.
We've been getting light snow all winter until today. This one is wet and heavy and sticky. I can't wait to snowblow it tomorrow (not)
Negative 8 here on this Monday morning. The ice and snow on the ground (and on the running trails) is not going away anytime soon.
Countryside: After a few years of little snow, this winter seems to be making up for that lack.
Scott: I just got clipped by the storm that you got more of. I guess further east was even worse than what you go.
Sharkbytes: one of these years I'm going to have to get a snowblower. So far I'm still shoveling by hand.
Pablo: Wow! Negative 8! You're a lot further south, too. Did you get the high winds?
